Shipibo Ceremonial Bracelet – Snake Bones & Seeds

Strung by hand in the Loreto region of Peru from seeds gathered in the forest nearby. Red and black seeds sit alongside mottled brown and pale striped ones, with a single snake vertebra set at the middle. The cord is braided from natural tan fiber and closes with a sliding knot that adjusts to any wrist.

Red and black seeds are carried for luck and protection throughout the Peruvian Amazon, often given to children or worn into ceremony. The vertebra at the center holds the older meaning of the serpent, shedding what is finished and beginning again.

Each bracelet is assembled one seed at a time, so color, size and pattern shift from one to the next. None of them match exactly.
